Thursday 29th April

10.30am: Schools farm walk on Castlemine Farm
12.30pm: Public farm walk on
Castlemine Farm
Take a stroll around Castlemine Farm and you will be intrigued by the speciality breeds of Irish, British and Scottish cattle on the farm to include Angus and Hereford breeds All lambs are born on the farm making the rearing and breeding of livestock a truly ‘hands on’ affair. This tour will give you a flavour of  life of a ‘Return to Basics traditional style farming approach’. Both walks are weather permitting. Please wear appropriate clothing for walking outdoors – and dress for the weather!

3.00pm: Kitchen Garden Walk – Antogher Road
Kitchen garden walk takes place at Sunflower Organic Farm on Antogher road. Guided tour of organic vegetable garden with polytunnel. Early potatoes/veg in tunnel. Broad range of veg in outdoor raised beds. Compost bins, leaf mould, seed saving, unusual varieties of potatoes including ‘All Blue’- a blue fleshed variety.  Learn how to avoid the carrotfly and to deal with slugs without resorting to poisons! The garden is run by Gerry and Richard Browne on behalf of the Brothers of Charity in Roscommon.

3.00pm: Cheesemaking demonstration at Castlemine Farm

Silke Cropp from Corleggy Cheese, Belturbet, Co. Cavan gives a masterclass on the art of making cheese from sheep’s milk. A great opportunity to experience this artisan method of cheese production.

8.00pm: Art Exhibition – Old AIB Bank, Church Street
Official opening by Paul Leyden published Roscommon poet – who will recite some of his poems in a special reading.  The exhibition is organised by artists Honor Fitzgerald and Noel Molloy and includes artists Fran Crowe, Gillian Gannon, Kristey Verenga, Angie Duignan, Katie Browne, Annette Gaffney, Margo McNulty, Ann Rigney, Joe Cunniffe, Dympna Molloy, Ros Art, Mantua Art, Siobhan Carlos, Lorna Brennan, Martha Lynn, Maree Bannon, Joanne Hughes, Nollaig Molloy, Niamh Molloy. Bob Attenbury, Joan Attenbury, Clair Attenbury, Ian Marks, Micheal J. Farrell, Frances Mc Gonigal, Stephanie Cuddy, Honor Fitzgerald, Noel Molloy who all are working in Roscommon.  Attendees are invited to take part in our Sheep Farm Photo Competition open to everyone. Prize for best photograph – so get snapping!

Friday 30th April

8.00pm: RLF Restaurant Competition Final – Venue TBC
The final of our community cook off competition! 10 restaurants and 20 personalities have cooked their way through 3 heats over the last few weeks – now  2 finalists are vying for the title of RLF Restaurant Champion 2010.  Both finalists will have to impress our panel of judges and diners with their best lamb dish. Its been a long, hard road to get to the final – will they have what it takes to create another culinary delight? Support your favourite chef and help them become RLF Restaurant Champion!
€30 per ticket – 3 course meal including a glass of wine and entertainment.

Saturday 1st May

8.00pm: BBQ Brazilia and Irlanda – Festival Marquee
One of the highlights of RLF 2010 with fantastic food – brazilian atmosphere served from 8pm to 10pm.  Then party the night away with May Eve Dancing – music by Defcon 5 from 9pm – 12pm.  We will also have a special table as a reception for the International Sheep Dog Trials competitors who are travelling from all over the world to compete in Sunday’s trials.

Sunday 2nd May

9.30am: 10km walk for walking clubs – Suck Valley Way
Take part and enjoy one of Roscommon’s finest walking trails – the Suck Valley Way. Meeting point Suck Valley Angling Centre car-park in Athleague @ 9.30am on Sunday 2nd May. A free bus will transport walkers to start of the walk, which will be either Donamon or Ballygar (depending on weather). Length of walk approx 13-14km. Refreshments available in the Suck Valley Angling Centre after walk.  To book a seat on bus and to find out more details, walkers are asked to contact Martin Dunne 087 2665951 by 26th April.

Based in our Family Fun Sunday in Loughnaneane Park – taste a variety of special Roscommon lamb dishes cooked in a variety of ways from different nationalities and cultures in Roscommon. Tasting tokens starting at €1

Monday 3rd May

3.00pm: sponsored 10km mini marathon
Roscommon Lamb Festival in association with Roscommon Carers Association  present a 10k walk/run for good causes taking place over a 10mm route around Roscommon. Entry fee of €12 designated to  The Carers Association, providing support to family carers looking after frail and seriously ill people at home.
